Who
are we ?
We are a not for profit company, meaning that all monies
left over after the running costs of the holidays are deducted are put
back into the holidays to offer free and funded places to those who need
them. This also helps to keep the cost of the holiday affordable. We are
dedicated to providing tailored supported holidays to people with support
needs and we have experience
in providing social care and supported holidays to people with learning
and physical disabilities since 1996.
What do we do ?
We offer
a range of themed educational holidays (see holidays)
where our holiday makers can get involved with the fun or just sit back
and relax watching the rest of the group partake in the set activities;
, Our
experienced staff team offer a comprehensive 24 hour support and personal
care package to all our holiday makers.
Guidelines, policies and procedures
Papillon Holidays strive to
deliver a quality package and will endeavour to conform to the guidelines
regarding Protection of Vulnerable Adults of the following local authorities‘.
Manchester, Tameside, Lancashire, These guidelines along with our policies
and procedures can be downloaded on our web site
or sent out at request.
Papillon Holidays make every effort to work within the guidelines set
out by CARE QUALITY COMMISSION -CQC- the administration of medicines in
domiciliary care, CQC the administration of medicines in care homes,
THE NURSING MIDWIFERY COUNCIL guidelines for the administration of medicines,
and THE ROYAL PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF GREAT BRITAIN the administration
and control of medicines in care homes and children’s services.
These documents can also be downloaded on our
web site or can be sent out via e-mail or post.
What
support and personal assistance do we offer?
On a Papillon holiday you can expect to receive all the support and personal
care you receive at home from your families and carers.
Our staff team is devoted to making your stay with us a happy and pleasurable
experience. All our staff are continually trained
to a high standard and have experience working within the care industry.
You will be assigned a key person on your arrival at the holiday accommodation
and that person will dedicate them selves to seeing to your care and support
needs. Your key person will have knowledge of your likes and dislikes,
which will be obtained prior to your holiday (see
home assessment visits). Your key person will support you on our planned
excursions, and will be happy to assist you with any other requests you
may have.
What’s
included in the price?
The prices stated are for a standard itinerary holiday with two or three
holidaymakers to one staff ratio for personal care and 24-hour support
needs. Those needing one to one personal care or those who would need
one to one support whilst out on activity would pay a supplement. Examples
of one to one would be somebody who needed to use a wheel chair when out
on activities, or someone who may take it upon them self to leave the
group. Somebody who may become challenging would need one to one support
and you should state this when booking to save confusion later. A Papillon
home assessment manager may deem it necessary to designate a holiday maker
as needing one to one support once all the information has been gathered
on home visit. (see home assessment visit).

Included in the price of your holiday - All transport to and from your
holiday from your home within a 15 mile radius of Tameside/ Manchester,
out side of this would incur a .25 pence per mile and £5 per hour
additional cost (see our what’s included section of our web page
or contact our staff for a explanation of how travel costs are broken
down), All meals breakfast - lunch -picnics - afternoon tea- evening dinner
- supper, All excursion and days out are included in the cost of the holiday.
Holidaymakers would need to purchase any gifts to take back with them,
any snacks or drinks other then those at set meal times, and should come
with the required funds to do so.
Who
is it for ?
Our holidays are designed for adults who need personal care and support
whilst participating in activities. Our holidays are designed to promote
independence whilst offering all the support the holidaymaker needs, whether
it be personal care or physical assistance. Our usual clients would have
a learning or physical disability. Due to the nature of our holidays and
activities our holidaymakers would usually be quite active with a degree
of independence, although we can offer a one to one service for those
who may need it.
Home
visit
After you have booked on to a Papillon Holiday and have paid your 10%
we will come to your home or place of your choosing for an assessment
visit. We will determine what your likes and dislikes are, your dietary
requirements, and what assistance you will need when out on activities
and also your personal care requirements. It will also be a chance for
you to meet us and us to meet you
Your accommodation
The accommodation we will be using will vary from holiday to holiday,
from farmhouses, cottages, Peak Country house, activity centre dormitories,
to caravans for our summer holidays the locations we use will be chosen
to coincide with the themed of the holiday. All accommodation will be
situated within easy reach of our planned activities. Where possible we
will state on the holiday description where we are staying or what kind
of accommodation we will be using so holidaymakers can choose suitable
holidays. Our accommodation will usually be twin room occupancy; Peak
Country house has 11 bedrooms 5 of which are single occupancy,
Peak Country House:
is an 11-bedroom country house that we use for lots of our holidays. The
house consists of 5 single rooms so single occupancy can be expected at
this accommodation. The house is situated within an extremely large garden
with a stream running through the bottom. It is located in the village
of Mellor on the edge of the Peak District and is within easy access of
the motorways making it a ideal base to access lots of activities in the
North West and Derbyshire Peak District
Hallishaw Cote: is the working farm that we will be using for
our Halloween and Guy Fawkes holidays along with our Christmas holiday.
The house is situated within acres of its own grounds, with sheep often
grazing right outside our door; the house is a 5-bedroom barn conversion
with one triple two twin and two single bedrooms. The house is located
in Birch Vale on the outskirts of Hayfield Peak District.
Cockerham Sands Country Park: is a fully equipped caravan park
that we will be using this year for our sports and leisure holidays. The
park is situated on the beachfront in Morecambe Bay giving us the opportunity
to play our beach cricket and French boules; there are also bowling alleys
and crazy golf close bye. We are within an hour’s reach of Manchester
and Liverpool for the county cricket ground and our tour of Anfield. We
are also within easy reach of the ample Lancashire Football teams for
our pre season friendly.
Talacre Beach Caravan Park: is a fully equipped caravan
park that we will be using for our early summer holiday. Situated in flintshire
North Wales this Caravan park offers good access to the local beach as
well as many more local activities such as Ten pin bowling and tennis
as well as a on site cabaret bar. The site is also well situated for us
to enjoy the other attractions north Wales has to offer such as Conway
castle, the welsh mountain zoo and sea life centres.
Bridge House: is the accommodation we will be using for our leisure
on water holiday. Bridge House has beautiful sea views across the Solway
Firth to the Scottish Mountains. From the rear of the house the mountains
of The Lake District can be seen.
There are five large bedrooms, 4 double and 1 twin, Two bedrooms have
colour TV’s.
